What's the best digital recorder for interviews? - microcassette to digital
Mostly, I interview (people on my mobile phone is just what my work, not a fixed seated) with the speakerphone function on the phone next to the recorder. I Get Comments / interference with my old micro-cassette recorder next to my phone.

There are some great digital recorders on the market today. I bought a Vodafone to launch a last year and it is so easy to use. It has a microphone, but you can attach an external, if you wish. It also has a USB port, so you can connect your PC to an audio file transfer
